Sound Healing
What is sound healing and how does it work?
Sound healing is using sound, certain frequencies, and/ or vibrations to allow the body and mind to achieve a more harmonious state of balance and health. When the body is in harmony with itself it is at ease. When the body is “out of tune” with itself (due to mental or physical stress and tensions that arises from living in modern society with its constant drone of sounds and frequencies emitted from electronics and the mechanics of living less in contact with nature) then it manifests “dis-ease” in many different forms. Our ears, bodies, and minds are constantly bombarded by frequencies that lower our energy and impact our natural healing abilities. For centuries, native and ancient traditions have recognized and utilized the healing power of sound for spiritual, mental, and physical healing. For many years now, traditional western medicine has also been discovering and exploring the many benefits of sound as well.
What are some of the uses of sound healing?
Clinical trials have shown sound to help with sleep issues, chronic pain, stress and worry, and high blood pressure. Ultrasound is used in hospitals to help break up kidney stones, helping them to pass and cancer prevention and treatment centers around the world are utilizing sound with incredible results.
Sound healing helps:
- Clear the mind expanding creativity and improving learning and development,
- Improve brain and nerve functioning,
- Energy levels and sleep quality,
- Release mental stress and worry,
- Breakup congestion and tension
- Balance mental and physical stress responses and stress related conditions such as high blood pressure, blood sugar levels, digestive problems, clenching or grinding teeth, and other physical tension.
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.” ~ Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York City.
